Aidan smiled when he heard Christian's voice saying the words. Chris was happy. And it was he who made it. For a moment he forgot about the teddy in his hands but then Brooke clapped her hands. He turned back to the girl making the bear salute and bow. "Hello Princess" He said in bear's voice

Brooklyn was elated, this bear had never talked to her before. The yellow duck had whenever Daddy touched it though. She reached for it, tiny fingers curling around his nose only to pull it away from him to chew on. She spit it out not two seconds later making a face. "Ewwy"

Aidan stifled a laugh and took the bear's paw. He put the paw to the bear's nose rubbing it. "Now, now Young Lady. Bears noses aren't candies. You can't eat me" He changed he voice to his own then. "You can't bite Mr. Bear Princess. It hurts him" He said and the bear nodded. He glanced at Christ for a moment smiling

"No!" Brooklyn shook her head quickly, smacking the bear away from her as Aidan picked him up again. She didn't like him any more, he left fuzzy things on her tongue which she tried to get rid of by spitting. It didn't work out too well. "Dada.." She whined. Christian groaned, rolling of the edge of the bed to crawl to the both of them. Only returning the smile so he wouldn't hurt Aidan's feelings. He had been comfortable up there on his own, he needed a good nap.

The bear in Aidan's hands quickly ran to Aidan hiding his bear face in Aidan's leg and sobbing. "Look Princess, Mr. Bear is sad now. You can't beat others" He explained softly hoping she would understand. She was still very young but Aidan wanted her to know it wasn't allowed. It was very important to him for very personal and obvious reasons

Christian realized then that he had gotten up for no reason. Brooke didn't want him, she was only using his name to have someone to whine to. He let out another groan, following his daughters example and smacking the bear out of his way so that he could rest his head in Aidan's lap. "I hope you know she probably doesn't understand a word that you are saying. It's just a toy.."

Aidan's eyes narrowed when Christian smacked the bear away too. "Just a toy, just a boy....who cares" He said bitterly. This kind of thinking could lead to forgetting about the difference. Maybe he was overreacting but for him it was important. And besides the bruise on his lower back was hurting, not making it any easier

Christian sat up again and matched his expression, hazel eyes narrowing. He didn't like the others tone of voice, it sounded accusatory. He couldn't blame Chris for the bruise on his back either. It was an accident. "No Kinney..it's just a toy. It's not like I'm raising my daughter to be like him.." He grabbed the bear and flung it back at him, standing to go curl back up on his bed. "Just keep it"

That was a little bit too much for Aidan even though he was aware of the fact that he was overreacting. After hitting him the bear landed on the floor. He got up picking it up then put it on a shelf where other toys were. "I need some fresh air...I'm sorry" He mumbled opening the door and walking out of the apartment. As soon as the door closed behind him he ran to the nearest window in the hall opening it. He was shivering. Why couldn't he just forget and go on? Why even now his family was messinghis relationship?

Christian didn't turn around to face him when he said he needed a little fresh air. Too afraid that if he turned around he would really be gone. Although the door slamming was a clear indicator. This was all getting a little bit too ridiculous, Aidan had to see that. There weren't any reason to be fighting. Brooklyn screamed but yet he couldn't will himself to get up and go to her. "Stop it" He whimpered, holding a pillow to his face to block out the noise. Everything was always too good to be true for Chris.

Aidan wasn't going to leave but he needed a break. He was afraid he'd do or say something he'd regret. It took him almost twenty minutes to calm down. Long twenty minutes when he really regretted he had no joints left. But if he wanted this to work ot he couldn't smoke.
Finally he walked back in and went straight to Christian wrapping arms around him. "I'm sorry." He whispered then got up to pick up Brooke and sit back with one arm around Chris

Christian let the pillow fall from his face as he felt thin arms wrap around him, but he didn't make any move to turn around to face him. He couldn't let him see how easily it was to cause him to break down these days over nothing. "What are you sorry for? Everything is always my fault.." He mumbled.

Wordlessly Aidan showed Brooke to hug Christian and he did the same as he pressed his cheek to Christian's back. "No, it's my fault. I let my past haunt me and influence me so easily instead of letting it go and forgetting. Even though it's been such a long time I can't break free from that. I'm still scared of everything around me. But it's my problem, not yourss and I shouldn't pull you into it. I'm sorry" He sighed

Christian was sick and tired of hearing about Aidan's horrible past, he couldn't let that dictate the rest of his life. So what if his father beat him? He was older now, he didn't have to go back there again. Chris wouldn't allow it. He wiped his eyes on his arm, reaching behind him for Brooke so that when he rolled over onto his back she laid on top of his chest. "You left.." He stated quietly, not looking at him.

"No. i didn't leave. Just went outside" Aidan said quietly looking at Christian sadly. "I had to. I had to calm down. I was scared I would say something stupid. Something I'd regret. And I didn't want to ruin what we have so I had to calm down. But I didn't leave. I told you I needed to go for a walk....and I wast right behind the door by the window"
