Little Man [Jason]

Getting little more comfortable Jason felt his shoulders relax although the evil eye looks Parker was giving him did go noticed. Oh well, he clearly looked after his father not just physically. Jason didn’t like stranger that much either, trusting people was something that did not go that easy for him. And so it seemed it was the same for Parker.

He leaned a bit forward, letting his elbows rest on his knees while Adia set Parker on both his feet. Jason smiled, “Wow, pretty impressive. You’re one smart dude aren’t you?” a chuckle in his voice. This little guy really was his son? It seemed to be so unreal and yet so amazing at the same time.

Jason and Adia had a son. Wow.

"Yes sir.." Parker nodded, clapping his hands excitedly as he realized that he had clearly impressed both of the adults in the room. He liked it when others made him feel like he was a big boy. Dropping back down onto the floor briefly, he grabbed the red race car and climbed back up on to his feet. Holding it out for Jason to take. "Wanna play?"

Jason looked over at Adia and smiled. All the nerves he had been having before were vanishing. Parker was a great kid although Jason figured that Adia probably had been dealing with a lot by raising him on her own. “I’d love to play.” he replied to Parker’s invitation and took the car from the boy’s hand. Moving from the chair Jason sat down on the floor so he was not looking down upon Parker, but could look him straight in the eyes. “What would you like to play?”

Adia returned the smile, sitting down off to the side some to give the boys room to bond, feeling slightly out of place. Jason had no idea how hard it was to raise a child on your own and still go to school full time, and Addy had two children to take care of. She couldn't remember if she had told Jason about her daughter the night they had gotten together.

Parker shrugged sitting down on his knees to slide his monster truck back and forth across the floor, occasionally letting it slam into one of his fathers knees. By accident of course. "VROOM..VROOM!"

For a while Jason played with the cars and Parker. Making the cars race through the room and them crash against each other. It had been a while since he had actually played with cars like this, about 12 years to be exact when Danny – his kid brother- had still played with toy cars. Now Jason played with grown up cars. With his own Impala.

After having another crashing of the race car and the blue truck Jason looked up at Adia, watching her sitting somewhere on the side of the room. “Why don’t you play for a bit Parker when I go talk with your mom?” Standing up from the floor, he handed Parker one of the cars he had just played with. Then Jason moved to sit besides Adia again. “He really is one amazing little guy Addy.”

Parker didn't even noticed when Jason left him, he was in the zone now making the cars talk to each other like Skylar often did with her Barbie dolls. "Yeah he is, isn't he?" Adia agreed, looking away from her son as the other moved to sit next to her. It felt strange being this close to him an knowing that they both had created that amazing little boy together, even if by accident. "He doesn't get it from me.."

“Ey, don’t talk like that.” This was like what?, the third time in both days he had spoken to her that she was talking like this about herself? Jason didn’t understand why she did that, talk negatively about herself. He didn’t see what the reason for that was, there was nothing wrong with her as far as he could tell. He really did find her amazing for taking care of Parker on her own. Not knowing she had a daughter as well. “You raised him for the past two years, so if that ‘amazing-ness’ is coming from someone, than it is coming from you.” he said, giving her shoulder a soft nudge with his own.

Adia couldn't help it, she had grown accustomed to talking down about herself over the years. In her mind, everything bad that happened to her or to the ones she loved was all her fault. "I suppose some of it could come from me.." She shrugged, giving in just to please him although she still believed differently. She returned the nudge. "You said before that you wanted to be apart of my life? It doesn't have to be that way. I won't keep him from you just because we aren't friendly"

A few days and one night was all the time Jason had gotten to get to know Adia. Which had not been much and frankly, he didn’t know her. At the time it seemed best to keep it that way, although he had thought of her after school had started up again. Maybe she would give him a shot, at getting to know her. She was his son’s mother after all. “Should I take that as a hint you don’t want us to be friendly?“

"No..I'm just giving you the chance to get out of something that we both know that you don't want to do. I'm your one night stand Jason. If you had wanted to be friendly" She inserted air quotes here. "with me then it wouldn't have happened this way. Would it?" Adia averted her eyes again, unable to look at him and instead focused on her son who was now rubbing his eyes in sleep. "I like you Jason..but I understand..If I were you I'd be disappointed If I showed up too.." Again with the putting down of oneself.

“If I did not want to do this I wouldn’t have agreed on meeting Parker.” His eyes narrowed a little, not liking it when people told him they knew how he thought or decided they knew what he wanted or not. “Don’t tell me what my reasons were for something or what I do or didn’t want three years ago Adia.” Gsees, she should be glad he was the boy’s father and not some low life idiot who could care less. “When I tell you I’d like to get to know you then I do, take it or leave.” He said, standing up go sit on the bed instead of besides her. N

Adia tensed some as he spoke. He wasn't yelling at her but it was as good as that. She had only said those things because she was going by past experiences and not many people from her past had let on that they liked her presence. She swallowed the hurt to keep herself from breaking down in front of him again, crawling forward to pick her son up off the floor and cradle him against her chest. "Is my big boy sleepy?" She asked quietly, stroking his cheek with the side of her finger.

"No!" He lied, shaking his head quickly.

Adia smiled weakly, looking up at Jason and then back at the child in her arms. Repeating this several times until her eyes came to a rest on the older man. "I'll take it.."

Jason rubbed his hands over his face for a moment, holding down the irritation he felt rising. Why did she have to keep doing that? If she kept talking like that he might actually start believing it if she kept it up. He nodded, after she spoke and his eyes wandered over to the mother and child. “Good, cause not only would make it things a lot easier. It would also like it just cause.” No reason at all, just cause he wanted to.

Adia nodded and climbed up onto her feet, careful so as to not disturb the exhausted child. "Thank you. I'd..I'd really like to get to know you too. For him at least. Parker and Skylar are my first priority.." She handed his son over to him, rubbing his back as he whined some in his sleep. "Bare with me Jason. I'm just about as scared and confused as you are about this, if not more. I'm trying.."

Jason raised a brow when she mention the name Skylar. “Who?” but before he could ask her anything more Adia held Parker in front of him. Taking the guy into his arms Jason let the little guy rest against his chest as he wrapped an protective arm around him. A faint smile appeared on his lips as he looked down upon the sleeping boy. He was holding his son, for the first time. “So am I Addy, but it will okay. I mean, I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t.”
