Jared rubbed at his face as he paced around in the room. He wasn't too sure what it was about Erica that drove him so insane. And then again, yes he did. He finally sat down with a tape player and a guitar. The tape player had the bass line he'd created in his spare time, and he clicked play, sitting down in a chair with his back mostly to the door, strumming along on the guitar. He was getting better at it, wasn't that good. All things considered, but he really only did it to put music to his lyrics. One guess at who this song was about.
"Bury me standing under your window with the cinder block in hand, yeah cause no one will ever feel like this again. And if I could move I'm sure it would only be to crawl back to you, I must have dragged my guts a block... they were gone by the time we - whoa, I want to hate you half as much as I hate myself, you know that I could crush you with my voice. Whoa, I want to hate you half as much as I hate myself, you know that I could crush you with my voice. Stood on my roof and tried to see you forgetting about me, hide the details I don't want to know a thing. I hate the way you say my name like it's something secret, my pen is the barrel of the gun. Remind me which side you should be on."

Aidan was hidden behind the piano, crouching on the floor with his notebook where he put all the lyrics he ever wrote and a pen between his teet when someone dared to walk in and disturb his peace. Dared. Aidan snorted. As if he'd ever fight anyone. Him? That'a good joke. Aidan Kinney was skinny, seemingly weak and rather shy. He was definitely a loner. Probably that's why he didn't have many friends. But he had his guitar. That was a powerful weapon. Aidan was very talented. Probably that's why, or maybe it was just curiosity, he reached out for his guitar and plucked at the strings softly adding a quiet background to the other's song

Jared heard him, and his head picked up a bit. He had good ears. And he knew he wasn't playing like that. He let his fingers fall over the strings, just finishing up the song quietly. The bass lines on the tape that were playing weren't that good, just playing around with it, but they did match the music. He had to be thankful for that much - and some of Mattie's help, of course.
"Whoa, I want to hate you half as much as I hate myself, you know that I could crush you with my voice. Whoa, I want to hate you half as much as I hate myself, you know that I could crush you with my voice. Stood on my roof and tried to see you forgetting about me, hide the details I don't want to know a thing. I wish that I was as invisible as you make me feel, I wish that I was as invisible as you make me feel. Whoa, I want to hate you half as much as I hate my, whoa, I want to hate you half as much as I hate my - whoa, I want to hate you half as much as I hate myself, you know that I could crush you with my voice. Whoa, I want to hate you half as much as I hate myself, you know that I could crush you with my voice...." He let the chords fade and clicked the tape off.

Aidan was glad the other didn't notice his little input. Or at least didn't comment on it. He pushed the glasses up his nose with the back of his hand leaning to the guitar so he wouldn't have to stop playing. He hated this stuff but his eyes have been particularly stubborn about the contacts these days so he had to return to his old glasses, which by the way were giving him an even more dorky look than usually

When Jared finally stopped playing, he set the guitar on his knees and just looked over to where he thought he heard the playing from. "Why hide?" He asked the room, just holding the guitar where it was, fingers idly running over the strings, but not playing. He ran fingers through his hair, grinning, "you're better than I am. Though it's not too hard." He'd heard playing like that before, though it was usually passing by.

Crap. Aidan stopped playing when he heard the voice. So much for hiding. He put the guitar aside but didn't come out. "Well I disturbed your practice" Or rather you disturbed my writing but that's a detail. And of course he was better though he'd never ever say it aloud. He liked to think of himself as good. This guy here was okay but needed more practice

"You didn't come in after me, so I think it was the other way around." Jared chuckled softly and pulled a chair out from the other side of him. "Come on and sit, yeah?" He didn't think he was that good at all, mediocre singing and playing at best. He wrote, that's what he did. He stretched, just waiting for the other to make his choice.

Aidan hesitated but finally got up. He pushed the glasses up the bridge of his nose again then stretched his jacket before going to the other, running fingers through his hair - a clear sign he was nervous. He glanced at the man. He looked oddly familiar. Aidan had definitely seen him around though he couldn't figure out his name
