Christian frowned, staring through the bars of the crib at the sleeping child that resembled her father greatly in her deep sleep. This was going to be a problem for them in the future, he could feel it. Chris always had Brooklyn with him. He refused to give her away to his parents like Addy had done. He propped himself back on his elbow once more, using his free hand to brush Aidan's hair back from his forehead. "I'm sorry.." He mumbled, clearly disappointed in himself.

"It's alright" Aidan answered smiling as Christian's hair brushed his hair. "I really don't mind. As long as I'm not the reason" He explained stretching like a cat. He looked at Christian and noticed the look on his face. He could figure out what Christian was thinking of. "Chris, I really don't mind her presence. She's a wonderful girl and I love her."

"But you have to love her. You're her second father now..you said so" Christian replied quietly. He felt awkward saying it, like it was far too good to be true. The heat rose into his cheeks and he collapsed back down on to the bed holding a pillow over his face.

"There's a difference between having to love her and doing that because I feel that way" Aidan said sotfly smiling when Christian's face disappeared under the pillow. He didn't have to be a genius to figure out what happened. But he had to admit, it was hard to believe in. Her second father. It was amazing.

Christian didn't reappear again for several minutes and even then there were still some traces of the blush he had been previously suffering from. He coughed, refusing to look over at his fear in case it happened again. "What way do you feel Aidan? About everything?"

Aidan traced the blush with his finger. "about everything" He repeated. "You heard me in the park" Now he blushed faintly. "I want that. I don't have to be her second father but I want that. And I want to be with you. May sound strange after such a short time but I love her and I love you. I've never felt that way about anyone"

Christian cringed involuntarily. Aidan was throwing out the L word like it was nothing. He envied him for being able to say it without any hint of fear in his voice. Chris could never pull it off as bravely. He squeezed his eyes shut and then opened them again, completely forgetting how to breath.

Aidan looked at him chewing on the inside of his chin gently. "i know it sounds weird. I guess it comes with the fact I grew up in a family like that...I've never known what it feels like to have someone, feels safe with someone. To know that when I wake up you will be here and not planning to hurt me. It's a wonderful feeling you know?" He searched for Christian's hand

The natural instinct came back to him after a moment in a loud shuddering gasp. This shouldn't be that hard for him. It was just three little words, three words that kept getting stuck in his throat no matter how hard he tried. Aidan found his hand and his first thought was to pull it away but he refrained from doing so. The littlest things upset him he had noticed. "I don't know" He replied honestly.

"yeah I guess you don't" Aidan answered with understanding. he wasn't angry or upset. Christian grew up in a normal house full lof love. He didn't seek love so much. Aidan had been im a huge need of that. He wanted to feel loved. But even if Christian didn't say it and Aidan wasn't sure the other felt it he knew Chris wanted him in his life and accepted him the way he was. He smiled at his boyfriend warmly

Christian wasn't even pretending to be listening, a habit of his when he got his mind wrapped around something. He sat up and then laid back down again not even a second later face down in his pillow. A low moan escaped his lips followed by a barely audible "I love you"

It was barely audible but Aidan caught it. He wanted to make sure. To ask him to repeat it but he noticed how difficult it was for Christian so he didn't say anything. He just smiled. Really really wide. And then he rolled onto his side and wrapped his arm around Chris pulling him close. "For how long do you think she'll be napping?" He asked changing the topic

Christian let out a sigh of relief as Aidan changed the topic. Or maybe he hadn't heard? Which would be a pity considering the effort he used just to force it out. He rested his head against Aidan's chest once he was pulled close, glancing over at the clock. "It shouldn't be too long now. If she doesn't get up soon then she won't go back to sleep later. You can wake her if you want. Just caress her cheek, that always works"

"I don't know" Aidan answered softly looking at the baby in the crib. "She looks so sleep. But she needs a bath after that ice cream fest" He winked and looked at Chris. He wondered what the other man was thinking. He brushed strands from his forehead then leaned and kissed it. "What do you think?"

Christian understood where Aidan was getting at. He often had trouble waking her too, she always looked so peaceful. Sometimes he would sit there for hours just watching her sleep. No one could possibly doubt that he didn't adore that little girl. "You can give her that bath too. She likes you..possibly enough to bump me off her top spot.." He sighed, closing his eyes as soft lips touched his forehead. "What do I think about what?"
